The German MusikExpress edition appeared in 1969 for the first time. From 1971 then monthly. The German edition of the Musikexpress has existed since 1969. The ME has been published monthly since 1971. The detailed portraits and reports by (un)known artists were legendary right from the start. The (often very harsh) record reviews were also popular with the readers. In 1983 the previously independent music magazine Sounds was integrated, which led to the new name Musikexpress/Sounds. Years later, the Sounds disappeared.
