Pop Rocky / Freizeit-Magazin

POP: Youth Postille from Switzerland

The magazine POP originally comes from Switzerland. It started there in 1965 before starting in Germany in the late 1960s. For a long time, especially in the 1970s, it was the clear number 2 for its young readers behind Bravo. At the beginning of 1980, POP took over its two competitors Das Freizeit Magazin and Rocky, which led to the new name Pop/Rocky.

The youth magazine Das Freizeit-Magazin was published from 1974 to 1979 as an independent issue until it was integrated into Rocky in 1980.

POP - Magazine with the united competition

The permanent number 2 in the magazines for young people tried a lot to get ahead with the circulation. The POP bought up pretty much all of its competitors at the time (Popfoto, Das Freizeit-Magazin, Rocky) until it was swallowed up by the Popcorn competition in 1998.
