Magazines from the past
They belong to the media cultural history of the last millennium in Germany like television and radio: magazines. For decades, the most successful titles achieved circulations in the millions. In particular, TV magazines and the colorful magazines with their topics from all over the world found a home in millions of households week after week from the 1960s to the 1980s.Even magazines with a more focused target group managed to find several hundred thousand buyers weekly, fortnightly or monthly. These include magazines for youth culture (like Bravo), for pure music culture (like Sounds) and various special magazines for hobbies and leisure. In the 1980s, the Zeitgeist magazines (Tempo, Wiener & Twen), which were popular at the time, also recorded great demand at kiosks.
For many decades, the numerous magazines aimed at the female target group have been extremely successful. While the women's magazines initially focused on current patterns, over time they primarily focused on health topics and career tips. For a long time, men were offered a large selection of men's magazines. A few of these magazines (indestructible: Playboy) have survived to this day. The vast majority of them have had to give up, which makes them all the more interesting for collectors and print nostalgics.
